The facilitation of optimal learning is a best practice in the field of education, and collaboration is emerging as an important component of instructional practice. Education and library science literature offers case studies and articles highlighting librarians and educators co-teaching to provide deeper learning experiences for students. Collaboration between librarians and other professionals, if done effectively, creates opportunities that increase every student’s learning. This panel will explore different perspectives on the role of collaboration in facilitating optimal learning. How can we create optimal learning experiences in the current environment? How can we demonstrate the value of librarian/instructor collaboration? How can librarians and instructors together facilitate appropriate student collaboration to further enhance learning? This session will address the theoretical and practical characteristics of optimal learning through collaboration for our constituencies.
